Friends Of Rivmixx's Free Friday At Cargo, East London

We may officially be out of the recession but a free night is still always welcome, right? Our friends at In The Woods have put together a pre-festival party to get you in the mood - with a 'super special secret guest', no less.

Born of the eponymous boutique festival, In The Woods brings you a selection of its festival line-up to the hallowed arches of East London's Cargo this February 19 and will see performances by all of this year's headliners and DJ sets from the others.

The five piece Laurel Collective spent much of 2009 getting back to their pre-publishing deal DIY ethics, hosting the secret In the Woods festival with Micachu, the Invisible and a load of others as well as shaking up their residency at the Stags Head in Dalston.

Next to Laurel Collective will be Innercity Pirates and The Invisible on the decks. Innercity Pirates may be a name unknown to you at the moment but, after extensive touring they have garnered a reputation as one of the best live bands around. The band so far have had rave reviews from the likes of The Sunday Times Culture, Music Week and The Guardian Guide.

This year saw 'Ones to Watch' Micachu and the Shapes come back once again to grace the ITW stage with their agit-art-pop, maybe we shall see them on an ITW stage again soon..?

Promoter Ian Bennet Explained to us this morning:

"Coming away from In the Woods festival last September, I really understood why the Laurel Collective have kept it a secret gathering for the past years... it really is something magical and unique, the kind of vibe you can only really get from a 'friends and family' event. Of course... their musical-family extends to the likes of The Invisible, Micachu and the Shapes, Golden Silvers, Man Like Me... which makes the Laurel's nuclear-family a little different anyway."

"Laurel Collective seem to find it important to keep offering appreciation for the following they've attracted. Whether this be hand-made badges crafted from dead computer-keyboards, one-off art-formatts instead of CD release, their FREE ENTRY monthly club night "H.M.H.C" @ The Stags Head or the national tour they are about to embark on... which is once again FREE ENTRY. It seems to be all about sharing the love, with these eccentric internationals."

Free entry 7-11
7pm-3am
Cargo, 83 Rivington Street, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 3AY
