Anison are a four piece indie rock band from Kingston, London who have been gaining the attention of listers of XFM and BBC6 Radio with their self-released single 'Spatial Awareness'. The Londoners have toured with the likes of Zane Lowe and taken their music further afield having just completed a mini-tour in the states. Their spacious versers are layered with shimmering guitars that build into big driving choruses with drums that command you to dance, all toped with the infectious vocals of singer/guitarist Dan Frau. Be sure to check out the bands next single 'Sail Back To Sleep' which will be released in March/April.

Who are you and where are you from?
"We are 4 twenty-somethings from Kingston, South-West London, who have been going for a few years, picking up some momentum in 2009 with our first self-released single 'Spatial Awareness'."

What inspires you?
"We love a bit of maths in our songs us... One called 'Fractions' one called 'Spatial Awareness' and one which features the word ' Equidistant'. Awesome.
Other than that, the "usual" painfully pretentious list this week includes: Ridiculous situations.... annoying people.... nights out....love..... loss....frustration.....elation....dispair and delight.
Musically: Radiohead / Bloc Party / John Lennon / Massive Attack / Damon Albarn / Friendly Fires to name a few..."

What have you done?
"Played a lot of shows... drunk some vodka, JD and Mojitos... Released 2 singles ourselves: 'Spatial Awareness' and 'Sail Back to Sleep' which is to be released around April. We made it onto the XFM Playlist and BBC6 Radio with the first single and completed a mini-tour of the USA. You might also hear our songs in TopMan and Co-op from time to time!
We have supported the likes of Zane Lowe and Boxer Rebellion on tour."

What makes you stand out?
"A fairly unusual visual combination of band members: a very tall Asian bassist, a blond guitarist of semi-Swedish descent, a black dread-locked drummer and a half-Italian singer. We do not look 'formulaic'!
Sound wise - It's the combination of Dance-able drum rhythms 'alla Bloc Party' coupled with huge, epic vocals - guitars and sounds. We like to think it's fairly unique."

Where are you going?
"We are going to release our new single 'Sail Back to Sleep' in April which you can hear on our myspace along with another new track 'Statuettes' :

Club Fandango at The Monarch, Camden on March 11
Bangs & Mash Club night at The Relentless Garage, London March 20th
...and a local one at Fighting Cocks Kingston on February 18th"
